Outdoor Rescue Training Courses



Wilderness Emergency Technician (WEMT)

This 180-hour course combines wilderness medicine practices with standard Department of Transportation EMT Basic curriculum. This is the course for those who want to pursue work with ski patrols, professional search and rescue organizations, fire departments, rural emergency care clinics or as an urban EMT.



Wilderness First Responder (WFR)


Recognized as the standard medical training for guides, outdoor educators, and wilderness enthusiasts. The 80-hour WFR course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to respond to medical and traumatic emergencies in remote locations.

Wilderness First Aid (WFA)


This 24-hour course covers CPR and basic wilderness first aid skills. A great introduction to medicine for outdoor enthusiasts.

Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA)


This 40-hour course covers CPR and basic wilderness first aid skills. A great introduction to medicine for outdoor enthusiasts.

Wilderness First Responder Recertification


Twenty-four hours of scenario-based curriculum will review and update the knowledge and skills of a WFR. May be used to recertify current Wildernes First Responder and the Wilderness EMT (wilderness portion only)

Wilderness Upgrade for EMT


For current EMT's of any level. Completion of this 50-hour course will upgrade your EMT training to the Wilderness EMT level.

Intro to Swiftwater Rescue


This 1-day crash course in whitewater safety & rescue is designed for river guides & recreational river runners.

Swiftwater Rescue Professional


This 3-day whitewater safety & rescue course is designed for river guides & recreational river runners. 

Open Water Rescue


This 4-day course will focus on rescue techniques needed for sea kayaking or canoeing on open water.

Self-Rescue for Climbers


This 2-day intensive field course will provide the student with easy and efficient self-rescue techniques needed for sport and/or traditional climbing emergencies.

Women's Courses


These courses offer the aspiring or current female outdoor educator continuing education and hands-on practice in the following areas: river rescue, climbing rescue and guide skills, and backcountry avalanche rescue.
